Oh my goodness, I think I’ve dropped over the edge of green crazy. After starting this website and now paying attention to green at every turn, I found that can sometime make you look like that crazy stalker lady. Here’s the story.
Last night, I was flying home and had a layover in Cincinnati. I walked into the bathroom and saw someone had this great “green” bag in their bathroom stall. All I could see was a portion of the bag, but it had Mickey Mouse on it with a message that read in part “the trees are character’s too.” I could only see about half the bag, but it had me really intrigued.
So, I took care of business really fast and then went to the sink to dry my hands. I figured that I’d just wait for the women to get out of the stall so I could take a photo with my iphone. As I was waiting, another women goes into a stall and then as I wait, the second women comes out. I was starting to get the look. You know the one “what is that woman still doing at the sink”.
Finally, the toilet flushes and I think, great I can get a photo and ask a few questions. Well, no comes out of the stall. Hmmm, what is going on in there.
I continue to play with my hair and admire the side of the bag. Another women (we’ll call her women X) goes into a stall and the “bag stall” flushes again. I’m thinking, “this is it” and I start to pull out my iphone in camera mode. But nothing. She’s still in there.
Of course, I’m a little impatient at this point and I start to look for ways to snap a quick photo of the side of the bag. At that moment, women X leaves her stall and catches me in the act of trying to take a photo under the stall. AAAh. It is just impossible to explain this out of context.
Women X gives me the look and I, feeling very bad, leave the bathroom with no picture and no idea where the bag was from. Mission Failure!
The best thing is I walk out of the bathroom straight into a group of people wearing mickey ears and clothing who are obviously waiting for the women in the bathroom. I didn’t have the nerve left to ask them where the bag came from but I did chuckle when I over heard them saving “What is taking so Long?”. That was my thought exactly.

It’s called a “stalling tactic…” Fun story! For this fine work we hereby give you one “Story in the Bag” award–a fair trade canvas totebag from a Dane Buy Local social entrepreneurship enterprise. So far the project has helped 13 women in Sri Lanka raise their income from $.50/day to $5 or more…and one has built a house for her mother, sister and three nieces and nephews.
Congrats on Resource Robin. We’ll all spread the word.
