We found out that putting two inches of rigid foam to the exterior foundation is the cheapest way to insulate the home. Using the rigid foam on the interior wall to the basement and using structural insulated sheathing in place of plywood gave us an R-10 on the exterior above grade finishes, that is something that will be repeated in a lot of different places. In fact Chad Wuebben from Encore Construction, Inc. said that moving forward it will be a standard practice for them company wide.
