The slat wall is a design element that Jim Gempler from GMK Architects devised to divide the public and private sides of the house. You will notice that the slat wall begins at the front entrance bridge and continues through the house to the back deck were it ends at the rock outcropping. Everything on the foyer side of the slat wall is public space both upstairs and down. Spaces located on the opposite side of the wall is considered private.
Note: you will find the slat wall on all the diagonal walls through the house reminding you were you are located.
