WINGStand demonstrates how modern technology is reinventing the design process. Drafted in a dorm room, prototyped using 3D printers, then launched using a crowd funding platform called Kickstarter, the WINGStand was realized in less than five months. Better still, it was the product of a whole community of technologists. In less than 7 weeks, over 2,000 people came together to make the product a reality. Design, simplicity, and community are baked into our DNA.
The WINGStand is a portable clip that physically unites an Apple Bluetooth
Keyboard with a touchscreen device. In use, it accommodates landscape and portrait orientations, works with any touchscreen 0.5” or thinner, and serves as a stand independent of the keyboard.
The two pieces of the WINGStand snap together when not in use to optimize portability and effici- ent storage. The snap together feature was inspired by the way Legos connect.
The philosophy behind the WINGStand is simplification. Made from recycled plastic and manufact- ured here in the U.S., the WINGStand design is sleek, with subtle curves and smooth faces. Devices can be used without having to be removed from their cases, and the base of each “Wing” is extended so the unit can serve as a stand independent of a keyboard.
Resource Robin thinks this would be a great gift to give to the Techie on your list. We love that it is made of recycled plastic, made in the USA, and what a fantastic idea invented by a 19 year old. Order your WINGStand today!
